Global Girls Branches
Global Girls Branch Highlights
The movement to create branches and expand global Girls programs to more cities impacting more girls began in 2023 with an Illinois Criminal Justice Information Authority grant. With cohorts at the Global Studio, in four Chicago Public Schools (Revere, Tanner, Black and Avalon) we began programming in Cairo/Mounds, East St. Louis, Springfield, Champaign, Illinois and Bagamoyo, Tanzania in partnership with schools and community organizations.
This year, we will add branches in Carbondale, two other groups in Springfield, Kalamazoo, Michigan, Los Angeles, California and in the Washington DC area and engage hundreds of girls in performance training and life/leadership skill development.
Global Girls programs are grounded in a holistic approach to empowering youth. Lessons and activities enhance their ability to think independently, strengthen their capacity to care for themselves and others, and help them mature into critical thinking adults who creatively consider problems in order to craft authentic solutions. Our skilled teaching artists challenge the girls in dance and theatre activities to expand their comfort zones and work toward their personal best.
